People found burning plastics and tyres will be given a warning in the first instance. Burning of plastics and tyres is not permitted under the Public Health Act.

World Diabetes Day 14th November – Women and Diabetes
The theme for World Diabetes Day 2017 is women and diabetes. The aim is to promote the importance of access for all women at risk for or living with diabetes to the essential diabetes medicines and technologies, self management education and information they require to achieve good diabetes management and strengthen their capacity to prevent type 2 diabetes.

Secretary of Health appointed to World Health Organization (WHO)
Mrs Elizabeth Iro, Secretary for Cook Islands Ministry of Health has been appointed as the new Chief Nurse for the World Health Organization (WHO). Mrs Iro’s appointment was announced during the Sixty-Eighth Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Western Pacific by the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
