Honourable Nandi Glassie Minister for Health, Justice and Parliamentary Services

Honourable Nandi Tuaine Glassie is a Cook Islands politician and a long standing Cabinet Minister. He is the MP for Tengatangi/Areora/Ngatiarua, and a member of the Cook Islands Party.

Glassie was born in Atiu, and educated at Atiu Primary School, Tereora College, and then St Stephens School in Auckland. He attended the University of Auckland, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, before completing a Masters in Public Policy at Massey University. He has a long career as a public servant for the New Zealand Department of Labour, the Manukau City Council, and the Cook Islands Government. Minister Glassie is currently a PHD student with the University of the South Pacific.

Mrs Elizabeth Iro, Secretary of Health

Mrs Elizabeth Iro is the Secretary for the Cook Islands Ministry of Health. A position she assumed in July 2012.

Ensuring that health staff are provided with the right skills and knowledge sets to do their job has been a major part of the work during her leadership. Elizabeth’s excellent understanding of health services in the Cook Islands has been the key to driving critical health initiatives to the fore, for example the development of a Cook Islands  Fellowship in General Practice, a post-graduate training programme for doctors working in the Cook Islands.

Elizabeth is an NZ Registered Nurse and Midwife with a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Health Science..
