In recent years the Ministry of Health has kept up with global trends with the provision
of health services via Information Communications Technology (ICT). This can be seen with
the setup of Telehealth, an internet service that brings professional health care to the
people of the Cook Islands scattered over a vast area of the Pacific Ocean. With the setup
of Telehealth, the ministry has distributed computer equipment to all its health service
facilities in the outer islands that are also connected to the internet.
To further its goal of "Accessible Quality Health Care for All", the Ministry has set up
an ICT Center. Commencing August, 2004, the ICT Center will overseeing the implementation an
ICT network linking all its health facilities in Rarotonga as well providing a better and more
efficient patient administering system.
Tofinga AISAKE and Maru WILLIE were employed in March when the ICT Center was setup.
