Sewage Treatment Improvement Program
a. PUBLIC HEALTH (SEWAGE) REGULATIONS

    i. Sewage & Sanitation Board

The Board consists of the Director of Public Health, Director of Environment Service, Building Controller and a representative of the industry through their association called the Cook Islands Wastewater and Septic Disposal Association (CIWSDA). This Board will be responsible for:

The regulations:

  1. Recommending to the Minister of Health changes to the regulations
  2. Approving the adoption of the Sewage Code and any amendments
  3. Approving performance criteria for sewage systems (in terms of effluent quality)
  4. Approving the registration of sanitary professionals and technicians (inspectors, designers, installers, servicing agents)
  5. Approving the registration of septic tank manufacturers
  6. Approving the registration of sewage treatment unit designs
