i. Sewage & Sanitation Board
The Board consists of the Director of Public Health, Director of Environment Service, Building Controller and a representative of the industry through their association called the Cook Islands Wastewater and Septic Disposal Association (CIWSDA). This Board will be responsible for:
The regulations:
- Recommending to the Minister of Health changes to the regulations
- Approving the adoption of the Sewage Code and any amendments
- Approving performance criteria for sewage systems (in terms of effluent quality)
- Approving the registration of sanitary professionals and technicians (inspectors, designers, installers, servicing agents)
- Approving the registration of septic tank manufacturers
- Approving the registration of sewage treatment unit designs
