The Ministry of Health is seeking a capable individual for the position of Director of Community Health Services.
The Director of Community Health Services will contribute at the executive level of the health sector to lead the development and delivery of community health services in the Cook Islands including Public Health, Environmental Health, Mental Health, Dental Services, Health Education and Nutrition services.
The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Public Health Act and relevant Regulations (Sewage and Sanitation, Tobacco Control) and has a key responsibility for the monitoring of community and population health outcomes and reporting on health status and trends in the Cook Islands.
The Director will provide leadership, mentorship and an environment conducive to promoting a culture of continuing professional development and clinical skills and competencies for all staff.
The Director is also the key focal point for the implementation of the International Health Regulations and is responsible for ensuring national, regional and global threats to health are mitigated in a timely and appropriate manner to protect the health of the people of the Cook Islands and other susceptible populations.We are seeking an individual who holds a Masters qualification in Public Health or Health Management with a Project Management background.
Minimum 10 years’ experience and knowledge in Public and Community Health Management and Strategic Planning – specifically in health promotion, health protection and disease prevention.
