The Rarotonga Hospital Laboratory is solely owned by the Cook Islands Ministry of Health with the primary role is to provide high quality clinical/medical diagnostic and Blood transfusion service to people living in the Cook Islands.
There are five key service areas within the Laboratory;
- Clinical Biochemistry
- Blood Bank Services/ Immuno-haematology
- Specimen reception/phlebotomy services
Overseas Lab Test referrals cover the following;
- Genetic studies
- TB – confirmation, culture and antimicrobial sensitivities.
The laboratory opens for normal working hours Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 4 pm.
Closes for the weekend and public holidays.
