Your basic guide to the service
We are situated on the western – side of the Rarotonga Hospital with the best view of the Ocean.
We are staffed by 2 doctors and 13 qualified midwives. There are 2 delivery rooms, 1 antenatal ward with 4 beds, 1 postnatal ward with 6 beds and 1 nursery to look after our sick baby.
What to bring with you to Maternity ward.
For Mum – Pareu or nighties, maternity bras, granny’s panties (for caesarean section patients), 2 pkt pads, toiletries, towels, face cloths, cups, glass, teaspoons, forks, knives, tea, milo and milk.
For Baby – 6 singles, 2 warm shawls, 2 light weight baby covers, 2 baby blank, 2 baby towels, 2 pairs of booties and mittens, 4 face cloths, 1 pkt soap. Baby, small bottled methylated spirit and cotton wool.
NOT permitted in the ward
- Strictly no baby bottles, Fizzy drinks, TV Screen, mobile phones, laptop. IPad, IPod, MP3 players or any other electronics.
We want you to have a good rest and to spend quality time with your baby(s).
- Monday to Saturday: 2pm – 3pm and 7pm–8pm
- Sunday: 2 – 5pm
Note: Children under 10 years are not allowed in the ward.
- Every Monday at the Maternity Ward, Rarotonga Hospital
- 6 – 7pm
An appointment will be given to you by the clinic nurse in the Gynae clinic during your visit.
