A total of 1148 children aged between 5 and 11 years received their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 Paediatric Vaccine last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This represents approximately 79.8 % of the children in this bracket (1437) on Rarotonga.
“I’m very proud of the way the parents, grandparents and guardians of our 5–11-year-olds on Rarotonga mobilised and brought their young ones along to get protected. I’m proud too of the TMO team who co-ordinated a smooth process and thank our volunteers who made our young ones feel as much at ease as possible,” noted Secretary of Health Bob Williams.
Over this time too, a further 43 people aged 12 years and over received their first dose, 21 received their second dose and 74 people aged 18 and over received their third/booster dose.
Today the paediatric vaccination roll-out team travelled to Aitutaki and will be holding a public information session for parents and caregivers and young ones at 8am tomorrow morning at Araura College before beginning the vaccinations at Aitutaki Hospital.
The team will be vaccinating 5-11 years between 9 am and 6 pm tomorrow – Monday 7 February.
On Tuesday the vaccination team will be extending the roll-out to include anyone 12 years and over who wishes to begin their COVID-19 vaccination or get their second dose.
Please note those adults aged 18 years and over who had their second dose before on or before 8th November will be eligible to get their booster/third dose on Tuesday.
