A huge meitaki maata to everyone at the hospital and the Tupapa Clinic who helped care for me through dengue fever in January and the post-dengue recovery through February. I know it was an incredibly busy time with dengue cases across the island, yet every person I encountered still showed kindness, patience and genuine care. The smiles, encouragement and uplifted spirits, and especially the hard out laughs we had made a difficult time much easier. I also loved all the information the Drs and nurses were able to relay about what dengue is, how it affects you and what to do for recovery - for someone experiencing dengue for the first time this was great to have this knowledge. A special thank you to Dr Anthony Ikechukwu Ani for your quick response when I arrived, and treatment plan. And meitaki maata to Parau Ngamata-Nio for helping me with my lab results. I’m truly grateful for the dedication of our healthcare workers and the compassion shown to everyone in the community during this time.""A huge meitaki maata to everyone at the hospital and the Tupapa Clinic who helped care for me through dengue fever in January and the post-dengue recovery through February. Acknowledgement of Outstanding Service – Norma Tairi As the Executive Officer of Cook Islands Child Welfare, I would like to formally acknowledge and commend Norma Tairi of Community Health Services for her outstanding contribution and dedication over the years. Norma has worked across the Puna Clinics, and my experience with her has been primarily through Child Welfare Services while she delivered Paunu alongside our mothers and pepe in the community. Throughout this time, she has consistently demonstrated a level of care, professionalism, and commitment that truly sets her apart. Norma has a bubbly, welcoming, and enthusiastic personality that immediately puts mothers at ease. During Paunu clinics at our facilities, I have observed on numerous occasions how naturally she connects with our young mothers. Her manner is warm and reassuring, while remaining highly professional and respectful, making her incredibly relatable and trusted within our community. I have also worked closely with Norma in her capacity as Relieving Senior, where she has always been responsive, thorough, and supportive. Any queries or matters raised regarding Paunu services were addressed promptly, and her communication—both in person and in writing—has always been professional and clear. On occasions where challenging situations arose, Norma demonstrated excellent judgment and the ability to de escalate matters calmly and respectfully. Over time, Norma has become someone I consistently turn to for advice and guidance, knowing her responses are grounded in experience, integrity, and genuine care for families and children. I am deeply saddened to hear that Norma will be relocating overseas shortly. She will be greatly missed, and Te Marae Ora will be losing an exceptional nurse who has had a meaningful and lasting impact on the families she has served. I wish Norma every success and happiness in her next chapter and thank her sincerely for her incredible service to the Cook Islands community.

I am an Australian that was visiting Cook Islands in March 26. I was injured while holidaying (morning of 25th March) and was directed to Tupapa Outpatients. From the minute I went to reception until I left with my hand stitched up, I cannot fault the care I received. I expected a long wait but I was attended to within 10 minutes. The care and attention I received was exceptional. The doctor and nurse both put me at ease and dealt with my injury quickly and efficiently. I also required medication which was dispensed very quickly. Unfortunately I do not know the names of the doctor and nurse that helped me but I wanted it to be known that the care I received was absolutely comparable to any medical attention received in Australia, in fact I would go so far as to say it was better! It would be greatly appreciated if the Ministry of Health could convey my thanks and recognise them for the great work that they do and the care they showed. Kind Regards Melanie Nel
