Operation Namu26 Weekly Update 6

We are 10 days into the second 30 days of Operation Namu26. As of Thursday 19 March 2026, only Rarotonga and Aitutaki recorded positive dengue cases over the 12 days period. Since Sunday 8 March, Aitutaki recorded three cases and Rarotonga still accounting for most of the cases of 26 for the two weeks period. A spike of 10 cases was recorded on Monday 16 March for Rarotonga but still on a declining trend.  Currently, 25 active cases remain mostly for Rarotonga with no hospital admission.

Atiu remains with no recorded case for 5 weeks, Mauke with no case for 3 weeks and Mangaia going into the 2nd week with no recorded case.  

Peri-focal spraying and larvae surveillance continues with positive aedes mosquitos found at the Avatiu Wharf, Hospital, Tupapa Clinic and Nikao School.

Slashing of overgrown lands and clearance of drainage and streams on Rarotonga continues. The Tutaka Program is set for the 13 – 24 April 2026.
