Operation Namu26 Weekly Update 9

Monday 6th April 2026 marks the end of the second 30 days of Operation Namu26. As depicted in the graph below, no new cases were recorded from Thursday 2nd April to Monday 6th April 2026. As of Tuesday 7th April 2026, only 5 active cases remain for Rarotonga.

Peri-focal spraying and larvae surveillance continues including slashing of overgrown lands and clearance of drainage and streams on Rarotonga continues. The Tutaka Program is set to start on Monday next week the 13th April and will will run until the 24th April 2026 for the Cook Islands noting that some of the Pa Enua Tutaka will only take a day.

As part of the ongoing effort in response to Operation Namu26, TMO would like to acknowledge and thank the Cook Islands Red Cross Society for securing prizes as an incentive to all Puna’s on Rarotonga and the five Pa Enua islands to maintain our collective effort to once again clean and eliminate potential mosquito breeding areas.

Will provide further updates next week of any changes.

ENDS.
