Supervised Quarantine and Medical Clearance Policy

Description:

This policy guided the SQMC process of repatriated residents stranded in New Zealand. The policy was limited to persons who normally reside in the Cook Islands and were stranded in New Zealand due to border restrictions issued by the New Zealand Government on 14 March 2020 and the Cook Islands Government on 24 March 2020, with paid tickets for onward travel.

The SQMC process involved:

  • 14 days supervised quarantine in New Zealand and a COVID-19 test prior to departure
  • 14 days supervised quarantine upon arrival to Rarotonga and a COVID-19 test prior to release
